Does Artificial Intelligence know anything about St Leonard’s?

You may have read about a website that uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to answer questions, to write essays and be a general online personal assistant.  It’s called ChatGPT4; maybe you have tried using it?  Out of interest, I posed a question:

What is special about the St Leonard’s area of Exeter?

And this is what came back within a few seconds:

St Leonard's is a historic area situated on the western side of Exeter in Devon, England. The area has a distinct character with its listed buildings, narrow streets, and historic churches. The area dates back to the 12th century, and in the 14th century, it became famous as a centre for the area's wool trade. Here are some reasons why St Leonard's area is special:

1.       Historical Significance: St Leonard's has been identified as a conservation area and designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) by Natural England for its geological and archaeological features. The area has a collection of listed buildings, including Georgian, medieval and Victorian architecture.

2.       Community Spirit: St Leonard's community has a strong sense of identity and community spirit. Several community initiatives aim to preserve and enhance the area's unique character and history. There are numerous local businesses, independent shops, and creative studios.

3.       Access to green spaces: St Leonard's is located close to several parks, including the popular Exeter Quay and Riverside Valley Park. These provide a variety of outdoor activities for locals and visitors alike to enjoy, including cycling, walking, kayaking, and bird-watching.

4.       Cultural Diversity: The area has become increasingly diverse in recent years, with many different cultures, religions, and backgrounds represented. The diverse community fosters a welcoming atmosphere and a vibrant cultural scene, including events like St Leonards Summer Fair and the Exeter Street Food Festival.

Overall, St Leonard's is a unique and special area of Exeter, boasting a rich history, strong community spirit, exceptional natural surroundings, and cultural diversity.

Well, a lot of that is correct, but the AI is confused about east and west.  But that final sentence is one that everyone agrees with!
